Black Drongo

Black Drongo
Did you know? Drongos are aggressive and fearless birds, and although only 28–cm (11–in) in length, they attack much larger species that enter their nesting territory, including crows and birds of prey. This behavior led to their former name of King Crow. Drongo is also called Kotwal (meaning police man) in Hindi due to its aggressive behavior. It is said that they imitate the call of the Shikra so as to put mynas to flight and then to steal prey. They are so aggressive that they may sometimes land on large birds of prey and peck them when mobbing. Play behavior has also been observed in them wherein they drop a leaf in the air and try catching it in the mid-air (it is cited that this activity could possibly to be help the young birds acquire the aerobatic skills
