Ixora is mainly a Tropical and sub-tropical plant. This plant is abundant in Asia. It is also called as Jungle flame, Jungle geranium. In Indian languages like Hindi its called as Rugmini, In Tamil its called as Vedchi, In Bangla it is called as Rangan and in Malayalam its called as Chethi. Ixora is a perennial evergreen shrub. Ixora needs moist and well drained soil. Care should be taken that the soil does not get soggy. During winter water the plant sparingly. Ixora prefers more acidic soil (pH should be 5 to 6.5). If the foliage starts appearing yellow it may be an indicator that there is magnesium deficiency caused by improper soil pH. Regularly spray neem oil to keep Aphids and Scales. Aphides are green in color and tiny they are also called as plant lice, greenflies, blackflies. Aphids are among the most destructive insect pests on cultivated plants in temperate regions. Scales secrete a waxy coating for defense; this coating causes them to resemble reptilian scales or fish scales, hence their common name.
