Plants and Flowers of Pune Petrea Volubilis

Petrea volubilis is a beautiful climber with delicate violet and purple star shaped paper like flowers. Its a climber but with proper trimming it can be converted into a shrub. It is  native to Mexico and Central America. Petrea volubilis requires a lot of sunshine. In India it flowers in the month of March/April. Its common name is  Purple Wreath/Queen’s Wreath/Sandpaper Vine. In Hindi Petrea volubilis is called as Nilmani lata, In Tamil – Kudirai valuppu
