Dal (Lentils) is a good source of protein. Proteins are the building blocks of life. The body needs protein to repair and maintain itself. The basic structure of protein is a chain of amino acids. Every cell in the human body contains protein. It is a major part of the skin, muscles, organs, and glands.Once proteins are digested they are broken down into amino acids. There are 2 types of amino acids based on the requirements of the human body. Essential amino acids and non essential amino acids. Essential amino acids  are those that are mandatory and should be consumed from foods that contain them. Some examples are Mulk, Egg whites, Soy, Combination of Rice and Dal, Fish, Chicken etc.
